Questions We Get a Lot…

So…How does it work?

The Auto Terra system can be thought of as an automated terrarium that makes food. Its internal environment is separated from its external environment, allowing the user to grow food anywhere, any time. The photos from the gallery feature plants grown inside during winter! The electronics within the system automatically regulate all the factors that green babies need to grow strong and healthy - humidity, air temperature, hours of sunlight, and more. If at any time the user is worried that the system is malfunctioning, they can manually check the sensor readings and override the automation.

What daily maintenance does the user need to do?

Honestly? Not that much. It’s suggested that the user do a visual check of the system to ensure that things are going smoothly and no red flags in growth are detected. However, this takes less than 5 minutes.

What goes into making the food edible?

The crops are harvested, washed, and then put in your fridge or a root cellar just like other garden grown food. To cook, simply take them out of your fridge and cook according to your favorite recipes!

How would the user reset the system between grows?

After harvest, the substrate should be tested for nutrition. Afterwards, it can be fertilized according to the user’s favorite fertilizer. Then, the substrate moisture levels should be checked in adjusted according to a chart. Finally, the user plants the seeds, seals the system up, and waits for harvest!

What special setup is required upon first receiving a unit?

The unit would arrive fully broken down, in a series of easily put together pieces and some substrate bricks. Think of the instructions that come with IKEA furniture. After putting a unit together, the user would hydrate the substrate bricks. After hydrating the substrate bricks (this can be done within the unit itself), the user would plant, place the sensors,
