Welcome to the Auto Terra Project!
Early sprouts popping up 25% of the way through a trial.
Welcome to our blog! Check back here for updates on our progress and more information about us.
To start off with, the Auto Terra Project is a startup committed to ensuring food security on Earth and beyond (perhaps even on Mars!) with our innovative products. Our self-regulating devices allow the user to produce food with 0 hours of regular maintenance required. That’s right, no watering or turning the lights on and off is required! The only effort required from the user is the initial set up, the planting, and the harvest (and of course, the cooking). Our products also do not require a working power grid, access to running water, or even light. This allows them to be utilized just about anywhere! You can read more about us and our goals in the Our Vision section of our website.
As for updates on our project, we have officially signed up for Phase II of NASA’s Deep Space Food Challenge, an international competition to design the first food production system for travel to and life on Mars. We also plan on sending devices to food pantries to distribute to those in need through our community networks.
Since we are beginning to enter the public eye, we are also planning on hosting a series of Q&A sessions with several interested virtual and local communities! In our Q&A sessions, people will be able to ask the engineers questions about the design, see our full scale prototype in action, and learn more about the reality of food insecurity, the future of food in space, and possible applications of our products.
If you have questions about our project or would like to ask us to hold a Q&A session at your event or community, feel free to contact us using the form on our website. We hope to hear from you soon!
